Just a soul whose intentions are good
From humble beginnings as the Alan Price Rhythm and Blues Band, to one of the British Invasions leading stars, The Animals are a definitive part of the 1960s, with their cover of House of The Rising Sun still notching up listens nearly five decades after its release. Despite internal pressures and multiple lawsuits and line-up changes, Eric Burdon is still touring his distinctive gravelly vocals world wide, keeping the on again, off again band fresh and exciting for the fans, whilst still clearly buzzing from the audiences reverence.
Aside from The Animals, Burdon translated himself into many aspects of counter-culture, recording with funk band WAR, writing anti-Vietnam anthems that defined that generation. Besides 'Rising sun, he helped to pen hits such as 'San Franciscan Nights','Don't let me be misunderstood' and 'Tobacco Road' amongst others. Credited with being a forerunner of the Greunge and Heavy Metal scenes, his influence is felt everywhere, from The White Stripes to Deep Purple.
Joining Eric and the remaining Animals is former child prodigy and 'Free Ride' genius Edgar Winter and his Edgar Winter Group, rounding out this transatlantic double bill.
