JESUS C.SUPERSTR

I had very high expectations. The play was uninspiring and boring. The music and costumes were distracting. The Jesus with a high mohawk pony tail...WHY! The gospel of JESUS is powerful, but this performance was dark and sad. I hated every second of it and would have left before it ended it I had been by myself.

WHAT THE HECK WAS HAPPENING?

Impossible to hear the lyrics over the band and the distortion of voices singing too closely into hand held mics. No acting in sight either. And if you don’t know the details of the plot, try following along. Just a mix of random voices, some of whom were flat. This show was 90 frustrating and tedious minutes of “what’s going on now?”I suspect they offer no intermission because they need to keep the audience captive. Skip it.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME

I had never seen this show and was very excited--that lasted about 5 minutes as I realized I could not understand any of the lyrics being sung. The dancing was awful, the use of the microphones distracting and the costumes were terrible. This was like a bad high school production. I couldn't even stay for the entire 90 minutes. This was among the worst shows I have ever seen.

HORRIBLE MUSIC & SINGING

This production was awful from start to finish. Siniging all the way through with no dialogue. To follow the story sub-titles would have helped because you couldn't understand what they were singing. The music in general was unappealing and the story was a 60% about Judas and 40% about Jesus. The orchestra was on stage and often overwhelmed the singers. The actual acting was sub par and it's the first time after seeing many theater productions, some good and some bad that I felt I would actually like my money back. Gotta give credit though to the dancers who worked their buts off but still nothing could save this production.

CHICAGO PRODUCTION - JUL 23 2022

What a terrible experience. 90 minutes of over-amplified music and inaudible lyrics. We could not understand any of lyrics from jesus or judas… so we still have no idea what story was being muffed out by the band. not sure how anyone could understand the story or what was being screamed into the mics by the cast. Was really looking forward to this , but it’s a terrible terrible terrible production. Avoid it at all costs. Don't waste you money or your time on this one

SUPERSTAR, NOT SO SUPER

I have been a Broadway subscriber for a very long time here in Calgary. This was the worst show ever put on here. The main male singers (which is the bulk of the show)all did not anunciate their words and thus the story was not told. Also, on several occasions, microphones where turn on after a new singer had begun singing. The overall production was frankly awful. I left the auditorium very disappointed.

I LEFT EARLY

Awful. Save your money. Didn't know who a single person was. Couldn't understand the lyrics unless one person was singing solo. I actually am angry I paid good money to see this, I felt like I was watching a school production at best. It was so so so bad. The singing was just constant screeching. If you don't know the story, like myself, you will be totally lost, which I was. I left early because I figured I may as well go home and get the dogs out, better use of my time than listening to that chaotic noise.
