New Jersey Symphony Orchestra - An American in Paris

New Jersey Symphony Orchestra - An American in Paris at State Theatre

Why see New Jersey Symphony Orchestra - An American in Paris?

'S Wonderful!

An American in Paris is one of all time great Hollywood musicals. A sweeping technicolor romance starring Gene Kelly at the height of his powers, it was released in 1951, and won six Academy Awards. Among its many memorable Gershwin numbers (George provided the music and Ira the lyrics) are 'I'll Build a Stairway to Paradise', 'Nice Work If You Can Get It', 'S' Wonderful' and 'I Got Rhythm'. The film was recently returned to the public imagination by way of the Tony-winning Broadway musical adaptation.

Now you can experience the magic of this classic in a whole new way, with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra playing the score live in accompaniment to a screening of the movie.
